Grand Designs Success

We have just returned from a very successful few days at Grand Designs LIVE in Birmingham. Over the three days of the show we spoke to lots of interested people and handed out hundreds of catalogues.

This was the first time that we had exhibited at Grand Designs LIVE in Birmingham and the response was really very positive. Many of our visitors to the stand had visited the show just to see us! We love doing shows such as Grand Designs LIVE as it gives more of our customers a chance to see, touch and feel the furniture before buying. It also lets us talk to customers face to face and prove that there are real people behind the catalogue and the website!

The show gave us the chance to show off some of our new lines launched this autumn.

What I Did on My Summer Vacation 2011

Although I used to be an elementary school teacher, I never did assign that most dreaded writing assignment of “what did you do over the summer.?) Too open ended for most kids anyway, but since I haven’t posted since the summer began (gasp), I thought I’d write to tell you I am back and to let you know what I have been up to.

End of May I hit the a wall. Or rather a new disorder, coined by me: “post traumatic stress client disorder” A quiet voice in my body told me it was time to go back to Maui and then after that rest for as much of the summer as I could. I was just so burnt out.

Of course I couldn’t blow off my clients for whom I had existing commitments, but I decided I needed to not take any new projects and to finally slow down and learn to no longer be a workaholic.

Our back yard isnt all that big. Its a typical tract house on a cul-de-sac. A few years ago I decided to build seven 4 x 4raised beds to attempt growing vegetables. Our success was always modest. Great tasting produce, but not too much yield. Also, the plants never really seemed to thrive, if you know what I mean. All that changed after last spring, earlier this year. I took your summer vegetable gardening class, and from the first few minutes to the very end of the class, I was learning.
