Random Recast: Map Pages Day 4
In Random Recast, we find new uses for ordinary things. This week: Map pages.
To add a tremendous amount of personality to basic paper lanterns on the cheap, look to map pages. Simply cut the map into circles (my cheat: using a circle cutter, available in the scrapbooking aisle of most craft stores), then glue on rows of map circles, overlapping each for extra texture.

Completing Absence
Both objects aim at questioning the established relationship between user and product, by increasing the power an object can exert on its user.
The first object designed is a stack of ceramic plates which encourages the user to eat as recommended.

Pryor Residence by Bates Masi Architects
Bates Masi Architects have designed the Pryor Residence in Montauk, New York.
A departure from typical residential planning, the house is entered through multiple areas for different guests and occasions. Large glass doors slide open to the living, dining and kitchen area for a large gathering; a smaller scaled swing door for an occasional guest opens to the center hall with a view of the ocean. A sequence of auxiliary spaces – beach equipment area, outdoor shower, sand and mudroom – creates a seamless ritual from the daily activities for the family and friends. In
