Class: Candy-Making

Posted by Evelyn Tapscott in Gardening Posts

Our candy-making workshops are some of our most popular, and it’s been a while since we’ve given any!  Almost everybody loves to get a gift of homemade candy or be able to whip up a batch of something incredible for family or guests when they’re visiting.

Chocolate Truffles, Old-Fashioned Fudge, English Toffee, Peppermint Patties, and Coconut Bonbons are all on the roster!

Every new candy maker wants to learn how to make truffles, and with our tips and tricks, they are easier than you may think. Our dark chocolate truffle recipe is delightfully smooth, creamy and delicious!  We’ll start with a basic vanilla flavored truffle, then orange, then burst out of the gate with homemade Amaretto and Kahlua liquors.  These can be finished with being enrobed in melted chocolate, cocoa powder, toasted nuts, candy sprinkles, etc.Secondly, we’ll make Old-Fashioned Fudge…with a twist!  It’s an oh-so-easy, yet calorie consious version.  Everybody loves fudge, but not everybody can cook it so that it’s not grainy.  Since this isn’t prepared at a high temperature, it’s foolproof…and really good!Next we’ll make a real treat:  Chocolate Covered English Toffee with Almonds.  You won’t find a better recipe than the one we’ll use, and rarely eat any better toffee than this.  It’s got a thick coating of chocolate and is covered with toasted chopped almonds.

We’ll delve next into the intricacies of York style peppermint patties. Our recipe tastes just like the original.  Yeah, it’s that good.

To cap it all off, we’ll create true Coconut Bonbons.  Somewhat like Mounds bars, but a little sweeter, these beauties are an added bonus to any box of chocolates.

In addition to the expert demos, you’ll get to take home samples of all of the treats, a recipe booklet, a gift box, instruction on professionally displaying and wrapping these artisanal candies, and invaluable information as to where to buy all of the specialty accoutrement of the professional candy-maker, at wholesale prices. When you’re giving a gift this year, show off your culinary skills with a designer box of chocolates.  No one will be able to resist!
